Powder coating & 2K paint — frequently asked questions

Powder coating or 2K paint: which should I choose?

Powder coating is applied electrostatically and oven-cured, giving a hard, uniform coat that suits aluminium and steel parts that fit our ovens. 2K (two-component) paint is sprayed and chemically cured, so it handles large assemblies, repairs and exact colour matching on site-sized pieces.

Can you match a RAL or Pantone colour?

Yes. Powder is supplied in standard RAL colours and textures (matte, satin, gloss, fine texture); 2K paint is mixed to RAL or a physical sample. We spray a test plate for approval before coating the project.

Is powder coating suitable for Jeddah's exterior conditions?

Yes, when the substrate is prepared correctly. Aluminium is chemically pre-treated and steel is blasted and primed before coating, which is what gives the finish its adhesion and weather resistance.

How do powder-coated parts compare with PVD?

Powder and 2K give opaque colours on aluminium and steel. PVD gives metallic tones on polished or brushed stainless steel and brass. We often combine them in one project: PVD on the visible stainless, powder on the hidden steel substructure.
