Assembly & fit-up — frequently asked questions
What does workshop fit-up mean?
Components are trial-assembled in our workshop to the approved shop drawings before they leave for site, so fixings, gaps and alignment are proven in advance and installation becomes a matter of placing numbered parts.
Why assemble in the workshop instead of on site?
Site time is the most expensive and least controlled part of a project. Resolving every joint in the workshop means fewer surprises, less time on site and no cutting or grinding near finished floors and walls.
How are large assemblies delivered?
As numbered kits with protective film, packed in the order of installation and accompanied by the shop drawing set, so our installation team or the main contractor can follow the same sequence that was tested in the workshop.
Do you coordinate with other trades?
Yes. Fixing points, cut-outs for lighting, glass and services are agreed on the shop drawings with the consultant and other trades before fabrication, which is what keeps the fit-up clean.
